The light hearted but action-heavy sequel to the XXX franchise is entertaining…, if you don’t take it seriously.

If you take the implausibly ridiculous opening sequences of all the James Bond movies and line them up together to make them into a 107 minute film, you will get XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE. It’s not to say the movie is not entertaining. The Return Of Xander Cage is a bonafide action comedy  that have many very well choreographed action sequences in it.
This is a movie with a very calculated, can’t-fail formula concocted to dominate the worldwide box office take for maximum profit. The majority Chinese Financiers listed in the opening logos of the movie can attest to that. Those money backers will not be swayed into a money losing venture unless there is a very precise strategy and formula put in place to make the movie perform well by appealing to the worldwide audiences. Hence you see a combination of the actors and actresses from China, Thailand, India, Australian, England, and Vin representing the USA. All of these performers are top draw in their respective countries. This is as close a sure bet as there has ever been for a successful money making investment in a motion picture that I have come across.

Within the first five minutes of watching this opening action sequence, I knew this movie will be full of ridiculously implausible stunts. So I did what everyone who go to this movie should be doing, which is to surrender to the premise and go along with the ride. That is the only way to enjoy a movie  that is made purely to satisfy a craving for a mindless action flick. You just turn off your brain and let the silliness wash through you.
